In print, online and on air, I write stories. I am a teller of tales, with specialities spanning consumer, motoring, business, politics, industry and education. I interview CEOs and political leaders, write topical columns, and can turn my hand to any form of feature.

The story

My years at the sharp end covering national news mean I can spot news angles that others might miss, with an eye for the humorous and a good feel for the off-beat – a lifetime’s experience logged in volumes of weighty cuttings books, thankfully also digitised.

That storytelling runs through my work as an author too, from my ground-breaking consumer manual ‘Parent Power – securing the best schooling for your child’ to my role as contributing editor for a number of sumptuous luxury car books. It’s a growing body of printed work, with a number of active projects currently in progress.

100 Years of the Phantom

Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club

St James’s House

Contributing Editor

To celebrate the centenary of the landmark Rolls-Royce Phantom I interviewed owners, enthusiasts and sponsors for this magnificent 520-page edition, highlighting one of the most famous, luxurious and significant series of cars ever created.

120 Years of Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club

St James’s House

Contributing Editor

My exclusive first test-drive in South Africa of the near-production-ready version of the new all-electric Rolls-Royce Spectre gave a topical twist to this anniversary edition celebrating 120 years of the prestigious marque. Plus ‘all-change at Crewe’ as Bentley gets a new boss.

Strive for Perfection

Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club

St James’s House

Contributing Editor

To coincide with the official Platinum Jubilee of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, my contribution to this 536-page book includes my exclusive experience riding shotgun in a prototype of the Rolls-Royce Spectre – the marque’s first electric car – during cold-weather testing near the Arctic Circle, plus a focus on the engineering experts behind its development. Also, the electrification plans of rivals Bentley.

Parent Power

Securing the best schooling for your child

Securing the best schooling
for your child

Author

My own concept as an education correspondent: a step-by-step consumer ‘survival guide’ for parents bamboozled by the state education system and daunted by the private fee-paying alternative. This practical ‘how to’ manual aims to demystify the process - from securing a school place to challenging an exam grade – and to arm parents with the same insider knowledge which those working in the system possess yet rarely share.

Services

I offer a range of bespoke media services. These extend from specific commissions to write articles or books, to travel reports, media consultancy and training, speaking engagements, chairing debates, conducting ‘fireside chat’ interviews, and event hosting.
